David Laidlaw

Dave is a vice-president of Spectrum Financial Resources. He joined Spectrum after 7 years of running his own wealth management practice. He is also an estate planning attorney whose unique skill set aid in planning for the income and retirement needs of his clients. Dave has served as an adjunct professor of law at The Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He takes the time to understand investment objective and risk tolerances, and helps create an appropriate portfolio to balance safety, growth and income.
Dave graduated from Kalamazoo College with a bachelor's degree in economics. After four years in the property-casualty business he attended law school while working full-time and graduated in 1999 from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. During law school, Dave worked in the Sixty-Plus Elder Law Clinic serving the tax and estate planning needs of lower income residents. After law school, he worked as an associate at a respected estate planning law firm in metro-Detroit. In 2001 he left corporate practice to become more involved in his client's financial lives.
Dave's industry credentials include the State Bar of Michigan, Oakland County Bar Association, and Financial Planning Association of Michigan.
Dave has presented seminars to thousands of attendees throughout the metro area, including AAA of Michigan, ELGA Credit Union, General Motors, ALCOS, Cambridge, Washtenaw ISD, and many others. His practice focuses on the planning needs of those 50 years and older.
